Aquarius: Measuring Global Sea Surface Salinity

AQUARIUS is an approved joint NASA/Argentina National Space Program mission that has a primary goal of measuring the surface salinity of the global ocean. AQUARIUS is currently planned to launch in 2009. This portion of the Ocean Sciences Branch web site, among other things, documents the activities that support the AQUARIUS mission out of this Branch.

An additional purpose of these pages is to present an inside and somewhat parochial view of how a NASA space flight center and different organizations at that center support a NASA satellite mission. We hope you find the inside look illuminating. For more information, the official NASA AQUARIUS web site can be reached by clicking here, and there you will find the latest authoritative information and science and education activities relating to AQUARIUS, and we strongly encourage you to visit that site.

A final word about the material related to AQUARIUS presented in the Ocean Sciences Branch site. There is an element of style we are hoping to convey. The images and multimedia we present do not necessarily represent the most up to date concepts of the spacecraft, those can be found on the official AQUARIUS site. There was a conscious decision to slant our pages toward providing a visual experience, and we hope you find it an enjoyable one.
