Polar Education Workshop Logo

The NASA-Goddard Space Flight Center, in conjunction with the Laboratory For Hydrospheric Processes and the Goddard Education Office proudly presents a full day teacher workshop entitled the, "Polar Science Education Teacher Workshop". Many scientists within the Laboratory for Hydrospheric Processes, specifically the Oceans and Ice Branch and the Hydrological Sciences Branch, focus their research efforts on polar science, specifically snow, glaciers, ice sheets, sea ice, ice coring, and remote sensing of ice in order to understand Earth's climate. Polar Science has become a leading effort at NASA, due primarily to its global impact on the environment and its effect on global climate change.

This workshop will consist of a cadre of 4 dedicated and world-renown polar scientists who not only realize the major impact polar science has on our planet, but also understand the educational importance this science has in our classrooms.

Who
Will Benefit From This Workshop?

1.) High School Earth Science Teachers who are Currently Teaching an Earth Systems Science Course with a Cryospheric variable.

2.) High School Earth Science Teachers who WILL be Teaching an Earth Systems Science Course in a School System Planning to Institute such a Course.

3.) Earth/Space Science teachers who use NASA science in their classrooms and have online access, in their classrooms, for instructional purposes!

4.) Earth/Space Science teachers interested in current and groundbreaking NASA research in polar science
